Lobster Ponds and Cafe

The Giant Freshwater Lobster (Astacopsis gouldi),is the largest freshwater crustacean in the world and is unique to northern Tasmania. Living in tannin coloured waters in secret gurgling hideaways, this endangered species is usually shadowed from the public eye.

The Lobster Ponds and Cafe offers you a unique experience to meet these extraordinary creatures in their natural habitat where native gardens and viewing rooms play host to these enormous wonders. Wander quietly along the garden trails and stop to seek out these well camouflaged shy creatures as they blend into the brown waters on the floor of the ponds.Situated in Flowerdale, minutes from Wynyard, the Lobster Ponds experience is made even richer by its licensed cafe. The cafe offers scrumptious pancakes by combining local ingredients with real cooking, served with views of the surrounding countryside valleys.

Located in the quit farmlands, the Lobster Ponds invites you to see these secrete Tasmanian crustaceans and to sample local produce surrounded by the refreshing Tasmanian country side.
