At
Lobster Ponds we are all committed to ensuring that the conditions required for
the long term survival of this unique creature, the Tasmanian Giant Freshwater
Lobster,are strictly adhered to.
We
are proud to say that the environment we provide is possibly as good as that provided
by Mother Nature. Our breeding and display ponds provide for ideal conditions
and are kept as clean as possible by fresh running water with the addition of
sophisticated filtering systems.
Our
protective ponds also keep away all sorts of predators (including humans) thus
providing a safe haven for these very special creatures.
Whilst
all our surplus stock is returned to the wild, we would still like to remind visitors
that it is against the law in Tasmania to fish for, or capture the Tasmanian Giant
Freshwater Lobster and that heavy penalties do apply.
At
Lobster Ponds we hope to encourage all our visitors to learn a little more about
the wonderful world we all live in and we are indeed happy to provide guided tours
to groups or individuals on request.
Schools
are particularly welcome but we do ask that you book ahead via e-mail or phone.
